Full description
Yellowstone is a magical place of grand landscapes with mountains, geysers, & majestic wildlife. It's a super volcano, the core of the largest intact ecosystem in the lower 48, headwaters of six major rivers, a haven for endangered wildlife, & a dream location for photographers from all over the globe!
Each bespoke tour is crafted for you to experience your dream Yellowstone adventure. We will go where you want and shoot what you want (within reason). Our only goal is for you to go home with the images of a lifetime, the images you've been dreaming about.
Along the way, if you'd like, we can help you select & master your camera kit, better understand exposure, advanced composition, special techniques for wildlife, landscapes, panoramas, & more.
If you are an accomplished photographer & only want an experienced local guide we do that too! The park contains one of the largest collections of geothermal features on Earth, including about half of all of the planet's geysers, and is home to... moreYellowstone is a magical place of grand landscapes with mountains, geysers, & majestic wildlife. The park contains one of the largest collections of geothermal features on Earth, including about half of all of the planet's geysers, and is home to an assemblage of wildlife that is nearly unchanged from the time America was first colonized.
Our days typically begin before dawn to take advantage of the magic of sunrise and the golden hour. We will pick you up in Gardiner, Montana, and from there we will travel to destinations that can include Old Faithful Geyser, Grand Prismatic Spring, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Hayden Valley, Lamar Valley, Yellowstone Lake, or any of the hundreds of other magical locations in the park, stopping to make photographs as you like and conditions allow. We won't be able to visit every location in a single day due to time limitations, weather, construction, maintenance activities, or natural disasters. (We've been kicking around here for 40 years and we still haven't seen all of the park!)
We will have snacks and water, and encourage you to bring your refillable water bottle to reduce plastic waste. We will provide a picnic lunch for the full-day tours. Typically we will take a two- to three-hour break in the middle of the day when the light is harsh and wildlife is enjoying a siesta. This is time for you to explore on your own or follow their example and grab a nap (make sure you are in a safe location away from bears and bison!).
After lunch, we will continue traveling to special locations looking for the pictures you want most, including a great location to capture late afternoon light and (hopefully) a Yellowstone sunset.
Finally, we will return to our starting point sometime after dark, having spent the day traveling through and photographing one of the most amazing places on Earth, Yellowstone!
Generally, our half-day workshops are the same as either our morning or afternoon sessions on a full-day tour, but we will discuss this with you before your arrival. We're very flexible and want you to have the best experience possible! less
